Having played rugby for 10 years from the age of 9, starting out in full time work the risk of injuries just didn’t fit working in gyms and leisure centre's in various roles. Being very goal driven Tom needed something to work towards and to drive forward to achieve which is where he found his love for cycling at the age of 20.

Although having started in the sport late, Tom quickly caught the bug for cycling completing in his first year on the bike the 82 mile 'Easter Epic Sportive' around Worcestershire and then deciding to try a hand at racing throughout the rest of that year. The competitive side of racing is where Tom found his place in the sport, picking up good results in local crits and getting good places in local road races he continued to race, picking up his 3rd category license in his 1st full year of racing.

Tom having formerly worked with coach Tim Kennaugh now going into year 4 of racing coaches himself and has progressed to a level which will see him set his sights on some big goals throughout 2019 whilst racing for Bikestrong-KTM race team. In 2018 Tom made some big progressions from racing in the local race leagues in the West Midlands through to racing several rounds of the Elite National Circuit Series. Tom aims to build on this by continuing to compete at the highest level possible throughout 2019 from Rgional A races again competing right through to the National A road series and Elite Circuit Series races in the UK. Hopefully a trip out into Europe to test himself in some Belgium Kermesse racing as well.

Tom’s big target for this year is General Classification at the Tour of Sussex, and with a strong start to the season so far he is hoping to continue to improve and work towards earning his place in the team as one of the lead riders.
