Hannah is 23 and originally from Dorset but now based in Loughborough and training as part of the GB paratriathlon team. She is also studying Sport and Exercise science at Loughborough University.

Her triathlon journey only really started after she elected to have her leg amputated below the knee in July 2016. She had a minor operation in 2012 which didn’t go to plan and resulted in a condition called CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). It caused a lot of pain and eventually caused ulceration of her foot. She used a wheelchair full time and had over 50 operations to try and fix her foot, but eventually she elected to have her amputation.

After starting to do a bit of training after her amputation and building her strength and confidence, Hannah did her first super sprint triathlon in May 2017 at the Arctic ONE tri and para tri festival, just 10 months after her operation. This was the spark she needed to know she wanted to do more.

In March 2018, Hannah became part of the British Paratriathlon Talent squad and then got selected for her first international race in May 2018, which was a World Cup race at Eton Dorney. The pride of wearing her first GB tri suit was amazing and just added to the occasion. In 2018 she got selected to go to race at the World Series in Iseo, and she then went on to win at the European Championships and then went to the World Championships on the Gold Coast and exceeded her own expectations and won her first World title.

2019 was just as exciting! Hannah raced at the World Series in Milan and Montreal where she won both races. She then went to Tokyo for the Paralympic test event which didn’t exactly go to plan but the lessons learnt were invaluable. Then it was to Lausanne, for the Grand Final again where under difficult circumstances managed to retain her World title for the second time. At the end of 2019, Hannah became part of the British Triathlon World Class Programme which is another big step forward for her.

Her biggest goal for 2020 is to retain her World title for the third consecutive year and to race within the World Series, but she will always just concentrate on being the best version of herself and to deliver when it matters most!
